Do you think it's wise for BET to be airing some of those shows like "black achievement award" black this award, black that award....you dont see any other network showing white ppl awards or asian or hispanic awards...is'nt that divideing the country..

many programs are for whites without explicitly saying so. all white casts, white people playing other nationalities etc. most whites dont normally watch BET anyway so what do they car except to use it as a talking point?

I think BET still needs to keept he focus on blacks and honoring achievements. If there is no BET, where would the spotlight be on black people...NBA, First 48. Prime time TV don't give a rats ass about showing blacks in a positive light (not that BET does either) but through the crap there may be some worthwhile programming on there.

I do not see anything wrong with it afterall a lot of black tallent does not get rcognized.Arent most shows on US TV still predominantly white?
I also think that having a "black this or that award" in itself is not causing devision. Divisin is caused by smallminded people that can“t erradicate hate out of their minds.

ok ok i hear you guys but mi just a seh what if Obama becomes president, then it would be a sure sign that things/people are changing in this country so would we really need all that division from BET anymore--maybe they could set an example for the others by starting to be more inclusive, especially since a black person would have achieved the highest rank in this country(president).

Reminds me of the corporate companies that put one black on the board to show that they are diverse...that don't mean nothing LS1..there is still a generation that needs encouragement to achieve more...Asians and Hispanics have the same structures in place to honor each other...you juss don't pay attention to there channels...I have at least 5 spanish language stations on my TV (that's pretty exclusive to me and not one of them is Spanish station that is English so I can understand what they are saying)..and di one deggeh deggeh BET unno waan tun more inclusive?

ok mi overstand what you'r saying about the hispanic them, but that's their language(but you'r right, they could have english captioning)
But it's the American people that's putting Obama on board...And the generation that need encouragement what greater encouragement is there than to see a black man leading the country...If that is not enuff encouragement i dont know what is...They should definately now know there's nothing out of reach for them.

The whole point mi a try make is with a black president they finally see that nothing out there is not out of reach for them....suh BET naan fi a show "blk achievement" award and deh pon stage a sing "we shall over come someday" ....i dont mind the awards and whatnot, but mi just a seh, why not be more inclusive...MTV dont have 'white ppl awards' and bet and mtv a channels weh a cater to the youths...is that how segregated we want our youths to be?...even though i must admit is true alot of those shows cater more to white ppl with a few token blacks added.

dont speak too soon. the first true republican attack on barack is under way.
leading the charge is foxnews (sean hannity) who is highlighting baracks ex-pastors divisive views on race relations in america. its the old addage, 'if you cant ketch quako, ketch him shirt', in other words, dont attack barack directly but indirectly, by way of association between him and his ex-pastor. the republicans are teaching/ schooling hillary on how to launch a political racial attack. their aim is to SCARE white voters back on the straight on narrow i.e. black people cannot be trusted, they harbor hate towards whites and towards america. this may serve hillary well, and will definitely serve the republicans well because not only does it continue to rip into the democratic party by stirring controversy, prolonging the nomination process, undercutting barack, BUT ALSO if it helps hillary to win, republicans know that hillary as the democratic nominee will 'get out the vote' of the conservative base (which are currently disillusioned by bush's over-spending, bad economy etc)- not to mention john mccain does not have a very strong footing in the religious conservative base. republicans need all the help they can get, they need hillary to win this nomination.

That was a perfect summary drax - but time and time again, bad allegations just don't stick to Barack and he comes up stronger in the end
Are these latest attacks tit for tat regarding Geraldine Ferraro's comments? Being called out for the comments of someone who you have association with?
The timing seems funny because Ferraro's comments were made recently whereas I think the pastor's comments were taken from years back.
