how do you foresee the fight/ struggle continuing as those so intimately connected with the civil rights pass on?

new era...alot of these kids today dont know, other than what they'r taught in school about all that racial stuff...we get a glimpse of that from the elections, ,most younger ppl voting for Obama as the older ones stuck on Clinton----Another thing that's really interesting to me is that in about 50 or so more years white ppl will be the minority in America, hispanics gonna be the majority...i wonder how thats gonna play out Confused

Like SexyLS1 said, a lot of their achievements will be forgotten or taken for granted. Take for instance the fight to achieve the right to education, and now look how many black youths take that for granted.

Take also the N-word. How many of our heroes and heroines died to remove that label from over our heads, and now so many of our own are fighting to put it back.

We do need to move to the future, and bring with it our own new and unique perspectives, but we should never forget our roots. The same way many of our own have forgotten the importance of their connection to Africa, so will many forget the importance of our connection to our historical human rights icons.

A few intellectuals will remember...the rest are moving towards assimilation...becoming one

Is becoming one thus a negative?
At what point is it negative to remember?

e.g. Are those that still think that African-Americans are an oppressed people racist?
